Within our concept “Meet the APR team”, APR Technologies employees get to share their experiences, knowledge and trend research within their field of work.
Today it’s time to meet Hedda Thunell, CAD engineer!
Hello Hedda, please tell us a little about yourself and your background.
– I started working at APR Technologies in 2019, right after I graduated from high school and worked at the company for a year. Because I liked my work assignments, I applied to Uppsala University’s program, “university engineer in mechanical engineering”. In this program, I’ve had the opportunity to continue working with similar tasks. I’ve studied mechanical engineering for two years now, and continued to work at APR Technologies during the summers.
Describe your field of work and your role at APR Technologies.
– During my first year, I mainly worked with a project where I was involved in the design process, from specification of requirements, to simulation of flow and heat of the model, to the production of a prototype and testing of it. I find it very rewarding to study during the academic year and then apply what I’ve learned to actual projects at APR, and vice versa. I feel that I gain a greater understanding through this.
What do you see as trends in your specific area right now? What will the development look like in the coming years?
– This summer I’m working mostly with simulation of liquid cooling for batteries. The results from the liquid cooling simulations of batteries will be even more realistic in the future, which will then lead to two things: more reliable simulation results and fewer tests for physical batteries. As technology is constantly evolving, I also believe that these simulations will run faster in the future, which will make it easier to test new technical solutions, designs and ideas with faster results and more reliability.
